January 18, 2018 - Valley Calendar

Jan. 18: Frontera Audubon, located at 1101 S. Texas Blvd. in Weslaco will hold a bird walk each Thursday through January at 8:30 am. The walk is free for members or $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65 and older), $3 for students (13 and younger) and children 12 and under are free. There is no need to pre-register. Jan. 19: Grammy-nominated country/bluegrass Nashville artist Billy Droze will perform at the Border Theater, located at 905 N Conway Ave. in Mission at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The show will also feature Bob Droze and a special guest. Matinee show is from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. and the evening show is from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person, $20 per couple and Winter Texans receive a $2 off discount with their park badge. Jan. 19-21: UTRGV presents Mariachi Aztlan in Concert at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, located at 1201 W. University Drive in Edinburg. Performance times are at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, and 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Jan 20-21. Tickets are general admission for $10 and can be purchased at tickets.vendini.com

Jan. 20: Learn spinning wool at the Edinburg World Birding Center, 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd. It will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is required at least two days prior to each class. For more information, or to register, call 956-381-9922.

Jan. 21 – The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, Mission Regional Medical Center, City of Mission and Mission C.I.S.D. will host the 23rd Annual Mission Community Health Fair from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Sharyland High School gym, 1216 N. Shary Rd. in Mission.  Free to the public, there will be free blood tests for the first 500 people (12-hour fast required) and various free health screenings.
