It's not just Winter Texans returning to the Rio Grande Valley – Broadway is also coming back.

Live in McAllen recently announced its Broadway Series for the 2017-2018 season and the list is rich with variety, excitement and very well-known productions.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze, the Wizard of Oz, Million Dollar Quartet, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story and Les Miserables will keep audiences captivated, engaged and enthralled at the new and beautiful McAllen Performing Arts Center, 801 Convention Center Blvd., McAllen.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Cirque de Soleil became famous for its energetic and wild acrobatic performances. Cirque Dreams, the newest in the cirque shows, will be yet another explosive extravaganza. The holiday show carries with it more than 300 costumes, 20 acts and 30 artists from all over the world. The New York Daily News said the show was a “delicious confection of charm, sparkle and talent...”

“There's no place like home,” as Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz come to the Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Toto (with the Wicked Witch in tow of course) takes their stroll down the Yellow Brick Road for a family-fun evening. Described as a “lavish show featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs,” the stage version of the 1939 film will “blow you away from the moment the tornado touches down and transports you to a dazzling Oz, complete with munchkins and flying monkeys.” Who doesn't want to see flying monkeys?

For those who still love 50s and 60s music, three days after Dorothy and crew go over the rainbow, the Million Dollar Quartet musical will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 14. This Tony Award-winning musical tells the true story of the one and only time that rock 'n roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins came together for a recording session. Along with an irresistible story of betrayal, celebration and broken promises, the music list is filled with timeless hits such as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Hound Dog” and more.

The season rounds out with the intriguing musical story Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story on Wednesday, April 4 and closes with the classical, Tony Award-winning performance, Les Miserables on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
