Rained out bullfight finale rescheduled Feb. 19
The finale of the Santa Maria Bullring bullfight season scheduled for Feb. 12 that was cancelled due to heavy rains has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 19. Anyone with tickets for the Feb. 12 event will be able to use them on Feb. 19.
Bullring owner Fred Renk said it was unfortunate the finale had to be cancelled on Feb. 12, but the safety of the matadors was the most important issue. It would have been too dangerous for them to attempt to subdue the bulls in a wet ring where they might fall and get hurt in the process. He said that all of the performers would be the same for the Feb. 19 show.
Matadors Lupita Lopez, known as the Mayan Princess, and Cesar Casteñeda, both crowd favorites, will return for the finale on Feb. 19.
The show will again present Ray Duran and Sonia Chapa the flamenco duo that perform with such fire and feeling.
Go with Jo Tours will again bring buses to and from the bullring Valleywide. Call 1-800-999-1446 for details. Winter Texans may also call the bullring at 956-481-3300 and make reservations that will be waiting them at a reserve table and pay when they arrive at the bullring.
