Stained Glass Museum announces opening date The Gelman Stained Glass Museum in San Juan is scheduled to open its doors soon. The 16,000 square foot state-of-the-art museum is home to the most comprehensive collection of stained-glass w i n d ows in the U n i t e d States. The m u s e u m is conveniently locatedacross from the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle. The museum, still currently under construction, is scheduled to open its doors on December 1. Days and hours of operation have yet to be determined. The building replicates the Latin-cross cruciform architecture of European medieval cathedrals, providing a sacred setting for these antique stained-glass windows. The windows have been salvaged from deteriorating churches around the country. Prior to opening, they will host an inaugural organ concert with Dan Miller on Sunday, November 28, at 5 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. Among the oldest instruments in Western music, the organ stands as quintessential of concert hall and worship music. Immerse yourself in this organ solo concert in an authentic cathedral setting that effectively replicates the a cou s t i c s of Gothic monasteries. Miller has been a church organist since age 15 and has served at various notable churches. Miller is currently the organist for St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Oregon. He also serves many churches nationwide as a guest organist for their worship services. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.gelmanmuseum.org.
