COME SEE US Are You Experiencing: Make Your Health Your #1 Priority The stars are bright at Pine to Palm Each year when the snow begins falling, many are digging out shovels while others are digging out their suitcases and getting ready to leave it all behind and follow the birds south for the season. Some of those traveling south find themselves fortunate enough to end up parking their bags at Pine to Palm Resort Park in Weslaco, Texas. Pine to Palm Resort Park celebrated it’s “Grand Opening” in December of 1970. Originally a tomato field, the property was purchased by a group of Canadians from Swan River, Manitoba, who saw an opportunity to create a place where northerners could come and enjoy a warm winter. Named for the pines in Northwest Manitoba and the palms of Southern Texas, the resort park is centrally located in the RGV, which is seven miles from the Mexican town of Progresso and about forty-five minutes from the Gulf of Mexico and infamous South Padre Island. During the past 50 years, the park has transitioned into a shareholder park and every resident is a shareholder. Which means any profits made are reinvested into the park for maintenance, new projects, and beautification. The park is comprised of 400 leased lots occupied by mobile homes, park models, and large RV sites. The park has RV lots to rent by the day, week, month, or year. A park elected board, cleverly named Mantex (Man for Manitoba, Tex for Texas) is charged with running the park while the day-to-day operations are carried out by the park manager and staff. The volunteer Tourist Club is at the helm of all activity and entertainment functions that occur. Inside, the security gated park features a recreational hall with a stage, heated pool and spa, library, music room, and more. During the winter months, there are so many activities that a calendar of events is distributed. If you are looking to learn something new, instruction for watercolor painting, stained glass, shuffleboard, pickleball, Spanish, mahjong, line dancing and card games are available. Daily activities include pool fitness, yoga and “Bone Building”. Pickup games of pickleball, shuffleboard, billiards or horseshoes happen throughout the day and evening. Residents, as well as non-residents, are invited to join those who make turbans for those with cancer either locally or sending them to various communities in the US and Canada. Some make quilts and distribute them to local families while the church congregation supports a local food bank. At Christmas, residents assist the local police and fire departments collecting toys for children and several residents help local Cost of Living at Pine to Palm Resort Park Lot Lease: $1775-$2445 Taxes: approx. $900 Insurance: approx. $1000 MVEC: approx. $100 / mo.
