The reprise performances will be held for one last weekend, March 4-6. This smash Off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy: four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic ‘50s hits including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.” In Act II, the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion. We learn about the highs and lows the girls have experienced in the past decade and are charmed to find that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, The Marvelous Wonderettes will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane. The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a matinee performance on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 with an additional $2 transaction fee for debit/credit card transactions. Reservations are also accepted online at www.harlingencommunitytheatre.org. Call (956) 412-7529 for more information or visit their website. Shuffleboard Tournament held at La Floresta The 10th Annual Shuffleboard Tournament was held at La Floresta RV Park in Mercedes. While dark clouds threatened rain, the weather cooperated, and the tournament was able to be played without delay. There were 68 participants in the double-elimination event. Winners in the A Bracket were Karen Birtwhistle and Wayne Summerly, both of Manitoba, Canada. Winners in the B Bracket were Sue Froehlich, Floodwood, Minnesota; and David Martin. Shuffleboard is a very popular activity at La Floresta RV Park. The tournaments were begun about 10 years ago by George Link, from Manitoba, Canada. He explained that they enjoyed curling in Canada and saw similarities with shuffleboard, except that shuffleboard is done on a court, instead of ice. Shuffleboard games are held twice a week under the direction of Bill Hocken of Ontario, Canada.
