Winter Texan Times

MARCH 23, 2022 www.wintertexantimes.com 4 WINTER TEXAN TIMES Observing its 49th anniversary, Alamo Rec-Veh Park treated its residents to four fun-filled days, just as it has each year since its 45th celebration. This year’s anniversary activities included crowning its king and queen, along with their court, two dances, a parade, several meals, a fishing derby, a Super Bowl party, a bake sale, and an auction. Park management and its residents have celebrated each four-day anniversary celebration with dances, complete with newly crowned royalty, as well as a parade, several meals, and a wide variety of other entertaining activities. Planning has begun for Alamo Rec-Veh Park’s 50th anniversary next year. Brownsville Guitar Festival returns live The Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts presents the Brownsville Guitar Festival on March 25 and 26, featuring performances by some of the best, most inventive acoustic guitarists in the world today. From France, Gaëlle Solal brings her vibrant and uniquely popular style to our stage while Xavier Jara (all the way from Minnesota) displays talents that won him the world’s most prestigious solo guitar competition. Created by Dr. Michael Quantz in 2001, the festival was designed to benefit students and music programs of all levels studying music on the guitar. Ensembles from over 50 cities across the US (California to Florida to Alaska) and Mexico have participated in the festival. Some of the greats in the classical guitar world have performed and taught for us including Grammy™ winners: David Russell, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Jason Vieaux, and Los Romeros. The event will take place at the TSC Performing Arts Center - Brownsville. Go to http://www. brownsvilleguitarfest.com for more information on event schedules.
