Edinburg Chamber accepting Christmas Parade entries The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Edinburg are proud to announce the return of the Edinburg Night of Lights Parade. Individuals, schools, businesses, and organizations are invited to participate in the festivities with this year’s theme “A Storybook Christmas.” Don’t miss the beautiful lighted parade, full of brightly decorated floats, plus a visit from Santa Claus. Kick off your holiday season on Friday, December 2, at 7 p.m. The parade route will be along N. Closner Blvd. beginning at the corner of Mark S. Pena Dr. and N. Closner Blvd. (Richard Flores Stadium) and ending on the corner of W. McIntyre St. and N. Closner Blvd. (Museum of South Texas History). The Edinburg Chamber hopes to inspire the imaginations of children and promote the joy of reading by having participants decorate floats in the theme of their favorite children’s stories. In the true holiday spirit, the chamber asks participants to enhance their stories with festive cheer. The event will take place on October 29, at the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center and Alligator Sanctuary. “HalloWings Across South Padre Island is a beloved event that celebrates the grand migration of the monarch butterfly,” said Blake Henry, South Padre Island CVB Executive Director. “Not only does it offer fun for the whole family with a variety of activities, but also allows the chance to enjoy this incredible and natural phenomenon in a way that is safe for the species. We’d love for you to join us for a family-fun-filled day as we celebrate one of the wonders of nature.” HalloWingsAcross South Padre Island, a local festival dedicated to the majestic monarch butterfly, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, and offer fun and educational experiences to learn all about the wonders of the Monarch migration. Activities range from butterfly gardening presentations, nature walks, and nature crafts to live music, games, and much more. There will even be an opportunity to purchase native plants so visitors can help aid the Monarch migration back home.
