The band’s second concert of the season, their holiday program “A Visit to the South Pole of Texas,” will take place on Tuesday, December 20, 7:30 p.m. AVisit to the South Pole of Texas celebrates the holidays at the official South Pole of Texas, McAllen, with some of your favorite traditional songs and explores new contemporary holiday pieces. The weather in South Texas might not always match the lyrics of our favorite holiday songs, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be cozy inside for the annual holiday concert which will also feature a traditional Christmas sing-a-long to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Join the McAllen Wind Ensemble and break out those ugly Christmas sweaters, sip some hot chocolate, and enjoy our favorite time of the year with A Visit to the South Pole of Texas. This concert features a few special promotions: BOGO when presenting a ticket to the McAllen South Pole Illuminated Festival (beginning at 5 p.m nightly at the McAllen Convention Center)- maximum of 3 free tickets per family; BOGO for military veterans who present military ID at the box office; and middle school and high school band students can request vouchers for tickets through their band director. Tickets start at $10, including fees, and can be purchased in-person at theMcAllen PerformingArts Center Box Office or by calling 1-800745-3000, or at www.ticketmaster. com. About the McAllen Wind Ensemble After visiting towns in Mexico and seeing the role of community bands, a group of music enthusiasts created the Town Band Association in 1974. The all-volunteer group of musicians currently performs a series of four ticketed concerts and several community performances each year under the name the McAllen Wind Ensemble. The organization continues its mission to improve the quality of life in the Rio Grande Valley and promote a greater appreciation of music through regular public concerts.
