Mission to open warming shelter The City of Mission is opening a warming center as wind chills are expected to dip into the 20s in the latter part of the week. The location will be available to anyone in need of safe, warm shelter. The cold weather shelter will open at the Mission Parks & Recreation building, 721 N. Bryan Road. The center will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday night and again on Friday night. Residents are asked to pack a blanket, pillow, medication, personal identification, toiletry items and snacks. Masks are recommended for patrons and there will also be expanded space to allow for physical distancing. If the cold weather is a concern for you, check with your local community to see if they will be opening a shelter near you. If you know someone that could benefit from this, please share the information. Stay warm and safe. Courtesy Photo 8
