Senior Slow Pitch Softball The Ed Martens Senior Softball League meets on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. RGVWoodcarvers The Rio Grande Valley Woodcarvers have begun their seasonal meetings. The woodcarvers are meeting at the Nomad Shrine Club, 1044 W. Nolana Blvd., in Pharr. The Carvers meet weekly on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. through March. Everyone is welcome to come and visit and join the club. Get ready to build/carve for the Woodcarvers Show in January. Senior Ambassadors The Senior Ambassadors is looking for singers to join their chorus. Senior Ambassadors is composed of men from the Valley and Winter Texan community. They perform choral music from sacred and semi classical, to pop and country. Practice sessions are held each Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bentsen Grove Resort (1645 S. Bentsen Rd.) in Mission. They perform 10 to 12 times each season at various venues in the RGV. Proceeds from the quilt show help to fund community service projects such as military service quilts to local veterans, baby quilts for Child Protective Services, and lap quilts that are distributed to local hospitals and medical facilities. Tickets will be available for purchase at the quilt show and you do not need to be present to win. The $3 admission to the show also includes door prizes, many beautiful quilts, vendors displaying the newest trends in fabrics, patterns, and notions, how-to demonstrations, and a sewing machine drawing. There will also be a boutique with many items made by Bee members. The purse and tote drawing will have various themes including cat or dog, kitchen, spa, beach, Valentines, and many more.
