Participants are encouraged to read the first book selection titled “House Built on Ashes” by José Antonio Rodriguez. During the evening, museum staff and participants will engage in a book discussion and brainstorm about the book club followed by an after-hours tour of the museum. As this is the inaugural meeting, museum staff will ask attendees to provide feedback on how the club should move forward. Questions include: How often should it meet? Should the number of participants be limited? Any suggestions for future titles to read? Book suggestions should be related to the museum’s mission to “preserve and present the borderland heritage of South Texas and northeastern Mexico for all generations.” If you would like to assist in forming the book club from the ground up, pre-registration is required. Register online at www.mosthistory.org/pages-of-the-past-book-club or call (956) 383-6911 by March 31. MOSTH is located downtown Edinburg at 200 North Closner Boulevard on the Hidalgo County Courthouse square. Golf highlights La Floresta Valentine’s Day activities Submitted by Arleen Bier The wind whips across the golf course as residents of La Floresta tee off. For Valentine’s Day we played a special game of Mixed Scramble— Best Ball. With such strong winds, the ball either flies over the green or stops short, depending on the direction of the wind and the hole you are on. No Hole-In-One today but we got a few birdies. It was donuts and golf on Valentine’s Day, and lots of RED on the golf course. The golf scramble was won by Don Tufnell and Marilyn Walters. Ginger Seurkamp makes a birdie while Wilf Trudeau looks on. Valentine’s Day Golf Tournament Winners were Don Tufnell and Marilyn Walters.
