The event will be held on Friday, November 17, at the Edinburg City Auditorium, 200 N. 7th Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Performances begin at 7 p.m. This year Ballet Folklorico welcomes El Ensemble Folklorico Mexicano from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Tickets are $5. Cash only. STC Ballet Folklorico is comprised of Mexican traditional dances, which derives from the various cultures in Mexico including those from indigenous tribes and communities. STC Ballet Folklorico presents Amistades The Museum of South Texas History (MOSTH) welcomes Edward Vidaurre to present during the Sunday Speaker Series presentation titled “By Throat, By Miracle: new and selected poems” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19. Vidaurre, the author of “By Throat, By Miracle” (Luchadora Press), will discuss on how to dismantle writer’s block by sharing the poetry in his latest book. Vidaurre is an award-winning poet and author of eight collections of poetry. He was the 2018-2019 City of McAllen, Texas, Poet Laureate, 2022 inductee to the Texas Institute of Letters, and publisher of FlowerSong Press. His writings have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Texas Observer, Los Angeles Review of Books, as well as other journals and anthologies. Vidaurre resides in McAllen, with his wife Liliana, their daughter Luisa Isabella, and their furry rescue babies. Sunday Speaker Series is included in the fee for regular museum admission. FRIENDS of MOSTH are admitted free as a benefit of FRIENDship and must present their FRIENDship card at the Admissions Desk. This program is made possible with generous support from the Carmen C.
