For more information, call Carolyn Beier at (563) 920-3838. Native Plant Project’s guest speaker for the November 28 meeting in Weslaco will be John Brush, Urban Ecologist for the City of McAllen. The title of John’s presentation is “Heat and Drought Tolerant Native Plants for Resilient Landscaping in Our Cities.” Using local xeric habitats, John will showcase particular species that would be good options for climate resilient plantings in our urban settings. John spends most of his time working at Quinta Mazatlan World Birding Center of McAllen where he oversees rewilding/restoration projects, develops community partnerships, gives educational programs, and serves as a park naturalist. The program will be Tuesday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Valley Nature Center, 301 South Border Street in Weslaco behind Gibson Park. The public is invited. There is no charge to attend.
