Whatever you decide to do, I do hope you take the time to acknowledge how blessed you are and thank your friends near and far. •••••••• I would like to share how blessed we are to have this paper and to be able to do something that brings us so much joy. We love what we do, and it’s all because of you and those that come to entertain you while you’re here. It’s also because of the relationships we build with our advertisers throughout the season(s). We have had some for many years that have almost become like family to us. So, when you visit one of our advertisers, tell them you saw them in the Winter Texan Times. Use our Taste of the Valley page to plan some dinners or lunches. After a long evening of dancing, or a hard day on the golf range – check our ads for a chiropractor or physical therapist. Also, if you have some favorites out there that you don’t see in our paper, be sure to let them know about us. Take an extra paper to them and show them they why. We have some businesses that are still struggling since 2020, and I am sure they would love to hear how much you appreciate them. •••••••• It’s you that makes this paper what it is. We want to make sure we are representing you in our news and our advertising. So let them know about us and let us know about you. Send your news stories, ideas, and photos to news@wintertexantimes.com. Thank you and have a safe and Happy New Year!! RAMBLINGS From pg. 1 found on the park’s page. Humans and their four-legged family members can start the new year on the right foot (and paw!) with a First Day Dog Walk at Sheldon Lake State Park and Environmental Learning Center. At 9 a.m., participants can hit the trails with Sheldon Lake’s own Bark Ranger for a guided hike. Hikers will meet at the Pond Center to begin. All trails are ADA accessible, and this event is for all ages. Dogs must be leashed to participate. Pre-register for this hike by emailing Victoria. Sharrock@tpwd.texas.gov or calling (281) 456-2800, x232. Spots are limited. HIKE From pg. 7 Legend talks about a Chinese cook, who mistakenly invented fireworks while mixing charcoal, sulphur, and saltpeter (potassium nitrate). The mixture was compressed in a bamboo tube and eventually exploded.
