Join the museum for an exquisite showcase of vintage and contemporary quilts from the museum’s collection. Whether you are a seasoned quilter or simply appreciate the beauty of the craft, this exhibition is not to be missed. Exhibit can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 500 S. Texas Blvd. January 6 – March 31 – IMAS will host the exhibit Ancient Landscapes of South Texas: Hiding in Plain Sight which illuminates the unique landscape and helps curious minds to understand the natural processes that formed south Texas. Along with the exhibit, a viewing of the documentary will be shown at 3 p.m. on February 3. The museum is located at 1900 W. Nolana Ave. in McAllen. January 11 – Original members of Burlap to Cashmere, Johnny Phillips and Steven Delopoulos, will be performing their brand-new show The Sounds of Silence Tribute at Christian Fellowship Church, 901 N. January 11, 12, 13 – PSJA Memorial Early College High School will have their performance of 9 to 5, the Musical, at 7 p.m. They will also have a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13. Admission is $10. It will be held at the Roberto Gomez, Jr. Performing Arts Center, 800 S. Alamo Rd., in Alamo. January 12 – The Senior Ambassadors will welcome the Texas A&M Singing Cadets to the Rio Grande Valley for a performance at the Center Church (formerly Trinity Worship Center), located at 4801 N. Cage Blvd., in Pharr. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance will start at 7 p.m. Seating is general admission and the cost for a ticket is a modest $12. Monies raised from the concert will go toward two university scholarships. Tickets can be purchased at Valley Keyboard, 900 Harvey, McAllen or at Coffee Zone Bistro, 1108 McColl Rd. in Edinburg and Coffee Zone Bistro, 701 E. January 13 – The Brownsville Farmers Market will be held at 9 a.m. at Linear Park, E. 6th St. and E. Ringgold St. The event is held every Saturday. January 13 – Firemen’s Park in McAllen will host the Growing Growers Farmers Market at 9 a.m. The park is located at 201 N. 1st St. The event is held every Saturday. January 13 – Join the Weslaco Museum for their Saturday Speaker Series with Joe Vidales “Soldiers in the Valley” from 2 to 3 p.m. Learn about the National Guard troops patrolling the border from Tijuana to Matamoros. Thousands in the Valley – Why were they activated? Where did they come from? What was their experience? The museum is located at 500 S.
