As he goes through his set, or even requested songs, the energy in the room changes with every song he plays…. And it’s a good energy. We were out at Mustang Lounge and the energy was high as Moshier played through, not taking a break during his two-hour set. From what I hear, this energy is even felt when he plays at a park. This is probably just one reason why he won the Entertainer of the Year Award for the Valley Star Awards. Moshier said he enjoys making people smile and laugh on the dance floor. The energy in the crowd is transferable to the way he plays and the friendships he has developed with his fans. “I’m truly blessed,” said Moshier said of the relationships he has been able to make while entertaining. During the Happy Hour we attended, he played polkas, Uptown Funk, Brick House, Sweet Home Alabama… just a big mix of country, rock and roll, and more. All those in attendance know the special dances, the extra moves, and when they need to chime in extra backup vocals such as to audience participation songs like Sweet Caroline. Moshier said he loves music. Most people might not realize that he took eight years of accordion lessons and eight years of band and choir lessons. “I loved music from a young age and the hard work I put into practicing and rehearsing has made me who I am today,” he said. “And I am grateful for it.” He started his first band when he was 13. He began touring at the Ron Moshier packs the house with high energy entertainment age of 25 and he has lived and performed in the Ro Grande Valley for over 30 years. He has toured nationally and has worked with the likes of Tammy Wynette, Eddie Rabbit, Lacy J Dalton, Gene Watson, Pam Tillis, TG Shepard, Chubby Checker, Keith Burns (from the Grammy nominated group Trick Pony), and many others. Some interesting facts you might not know about Moshier is that he owned an Italian restaurant in Weslaco called Ron and Nancy’s Little Italy, he has been on the Tony Danza TV show, on the QVC shopping network, and he has done a dozen or so TV shows on the Canadian Home Shopping Network outside of Toronto, Canada. Moshier is a man of many talents and is enjoying sharing his musical talents with his friends, at the parks, and anywhere else he is invited. You can be sure if you attend one of his shows, you will have a good time. Be ready for some dancing, clapping, hollering, and tons of fun.
