Victoria Palms Restaurant is located at 3309 E IH-2 in Donna and is open Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 am; and Sunday Brunch is served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There’s still time, but not much, to have a wonderful Valentine’s Dinner at the Victoria Palms Restaurant. There are three fabulous meals to choose from. New chef Cora is thrilled to offer these three amazing dishes to diners. Choices are roasted Cornish hen, baked sweet potato with brown sugar on the side, and grilled asparagus; prime rib sliced and served tableside, twice baked potato, and green beans; or grilled salmon, saffron risotto, and grilled asparagus. The Cornish hen is $19.95, and the other two are $24.95. Dessert will be cheesecake served with your choice of topping – chocolate, caramel, strawberry, or cherry. The meal will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The restaurant had a Meet the Chef event last month where they introduced several new dishes. Some of the new items include appetizers, a hot beef sandwich with potatoes and gravy, and Monterrey Chicken served regular or spicy, grilled or fried. The items have not been added to the current menu, so be sure to ask your waitress about the new menu items. I was there recently and tried their Hamburger Steak. It was served with gravy and mushrooms, mashed potatoes with gravy, and some sauteed veggies. It was quite savory and rich. The potatoes were nice a creamy and the steak had a slight crisp on the edges but was still juicy and seasoned just right to pair nicely with the mushrooms and gravy.
