Al started his musical journey at age 13 playing the guitar, bass guitar and singing. He currently performs with local Missouri bands, RGV bands and has performed on radio programs. He has performed with H a r l i n g e n ’ s annual flower show will be held this weekend. The theme of this year’s event is “2024: Spring Collections.” The show will be held 1 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, at Harlingen Cultural Arts Center located at 576 ’76 Drive, next door to the Harlingen Public Library. It is sponsored by Harnito Garden Club, Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Floral designs and artistic crafts, using live plants and objects from nature and created by garden club members will be showcased. Horticulture grown by club members will be on display in the center’s large gallery. The largest known display of labeled blooming native specimens from Deep South Texas will also be exhibited. Easy- to-grow houseplants will be on sale at good prices, along with native plants from Harlingen native nurseryman, Mike Heep. Local garden club experts and knowledgeable native plant volunteers will be available to talk about the plants, give pointers for growing them and answer questions. Learn about the marvelous plants which can be grown in deep South Texas and participate in the annual raffle of plants, garden aids and artistic floral artwork.
