The Wintertainers™ will be performing to raise funds for the His Hands Ministries in Penitas. The men performing will be Curt James, Rick McEwen and Rusty Rierson. They will be performing on Friday, March 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. A will offering will be taken for the organization. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs to enjoy the show. Ice cream and cake will be available after the show. The event will be held at His Hands Ministries at 17214 Salida Del Sol St. in Penitas. His Hands Ministries is committed, with God’s grace and the help of volunteers, to give a hand up to individuals or families in the colonias of the Rio Grande Valley. They also offer religious counseling and provide charitable service for the benefit of those less fortunate. Their main purpose is to show God’s continuous love and care for their neighbors. To provide families in the area with supplemental food, clothing, and basic household furnishings. They offer assistance with shelter and provide programs for the children. If you wish to donate items, they are in need of baby items; linens, towels; kitchen items like pots, pans, utensils, dishes, brooms; appliances; furniture items such as beds, chairs, tables; and more. They are also in need of items to help with their building of homes like lumber, hand tools, screws, windows, roof supplies, and electric and plumbing supplies as well. Other items of need include gardening tools, bikes, toys, books and school supplies. All donations help with getting these types of items to the families in need. Last year they were able to provide hot meals daily on site for local volunteers and Winter Texans, built a four-bedroom house, hold vacation Bible school, gave out hygiene bags at Easter, had a Thanksgiving dinner, gave out warm clothing and blankets to 200 families, and bags of groceries on Christmas Family Day. If you want to help them out, you can attend this benefit concert or visit their website at www.hishandsministriestexas.org/ to find out other ways they need help. Rusty Rierson. Courtesy photo
