November 16 – Come hear creative new works written and performed by UTRGV Composition students. Hear the world premieres of pieces from a variety of styles and genres including chamber music, solos, and electronics that represent the next generation of talented composers at the UTRGV Library Theater, TSC in Brownsville, 90 Taylor Ave., 7 p.m.

November 16 – The UTRGV Percussion Ensemble will present a program of chamber music for percussion instruments, spanning a wide range of styles, time periods, and instrumentation. To be held at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, in Edinburg, at 7 p.m.

November 17-20 – The Harlingen Community Theatre will present Neil Simon’s comedy, The Odd Couple. Dates for the events are Thursday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 18 at 7:30p.m., Saturday, November 19 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 20 at 2:30 p.m. Adults tickets are $15, Children $7. November 17 – The Harlingen Concert Association presents Side Street Strutters as they celebrate 100 years of jazz music with a concert at Christian Fellowship Church, 901 N. November 17 – The UTRGV New Music Ensemble performs a concert of experimental music with cutting edge technology as their instruments. To be held at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, Edinburg, at 7 p.m.

November 18-20 – Laredo will host their Holiday Market at the Outlet Shoppes in Laredo, 1600 Water St. Times for the event are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Visit the city’s website at www.visitlaredo.com for more information. 

November 18-20 – UTRGV Theatre will present Moliere, two short comedies – The Flying Doctor and Two Precious Maidens Ridiculed. This charming pair of short comedies is a delightful mix of love, trickery, mistaken identities and mayhem, Commedia Dell’Arte, farce and fun. November 19 – The Rio Grande Valley Detachment Marine Corps League will hold a 5k for Heroes and Kids one Mile Fun Run. The event will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the Hike and Bike Trails in Mission (1414 S. Conway). If you would like to register a team, call or text (956) 888-6275 for a team code. November 19 – UTRGV will present their Opera Theater at 7 p.m., at TSC Performing Arts Center in Brownsville. For more information and tickets, visit utrgvarts.universitytickets.com/. They will perform again on November 20 at 3 p.m.

November 19 – Raul Garcia, Violist, will present a concert at UTRGV Performing Arts Center in Edinburg at 7 p.m.

November 19 – A Craft Beer Festival will be held at the Cameron County Amphitheater and Event Center, 53550 Dolphin Cove, South Padre Island, at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at tixplug.com. There will be food, games, music and a car show.

November 21 – UTRGV will present their Student Performance Series – Symphony Orchestra French Connection at 7 p.m., at TSC Performing Arts Center in Brownsville. For more information and tickets, visit utrgvarts.universitytickets.com/. A performance will be held in Edinburg on November 22.

November 26 – A chainmail Jewelry Workshop will be held at the Art Business Incubator, 2500 Padre Blvd. #1, South Padre Island. The workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and cost is $45. For more information about this program, and others, call (956) 433-8097.

December 2 – A Touch of Frost, by Valley Symphony Orchestra will be performed at the McAllen Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. It is the holiday tradition featuring the Valley Symphony Chorale and seasonal favorites including sections from Handel’s Messiah and The Nutcracker.
