The City of McAllen Planning Department is continuing their month-long celebration of Historic Preservation Month; this time, inviting the community to discover McAllen’s rich and cultural heritage on a bus tour of historic sites and landmarks throughout the city. In partnership with Metro McAllen, the department will offer two trolley tours in May. Space is limited and registration is required.
“McAllen has such great history and it is alive in historic buildings and facilities throughout the city,” said Edgar Garcia, Director, City of McAllen Planning Department. “I invite anyone interested in learning more about the architecture and history of McAllen to sign up for these treasure trolley tours and simply enjoy!”
The two trolley tours will take place in May and will be led by the City of McAllen’s Historic Preservation Officer, Liliana Garza. The first tour will be held on Saturday, May 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. and the second tour on Tuesday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Those signed up on the tour will meet prior to their scheduled departure time at the McAllen Development Center, 311 N. 15th St.
