Valley Star Awards Show planned

The Valley Star Awards Show will be held at Victoria Palms Resort on Saturday,  Feb. 25. The awards program hosted by Robert Ferguson will honor the “cream of the crop”of entertainers who make the winters more fun by performing in many Winter Texan resorts. Awards will be presented for individuals, groups and bands voted as best in their categories by park activity directors.

Nomination forms were distributed in November and December to activity directors. Twenty-nine parks returned the forms with their nominations. The nominations were tallied and the three highest entertainers in each category were put on a ballot slip and distributed to the parks participating. The ballots were returned to Victoria Palms Resort Feb. 1 and counted by a group of three people. From those results, favorite entertainers were chosen in 12 different categories.

kenastonThe Kenastons, along with the Burtons of High Country and Mike Hughes features two of the best female singers in the Midwest and three of the best guitar pickers too. They’ll keep it country with a little western swing featuring lots of steel guitar, electric guitar and some fiddle.

Barry and Linda Burton’s High Country Band, is one of the most popular bands in Missouri and Iowa.  They have performed in the RGV for several years and are extraordinarily talented. Mike Hughes is also well known through Northwest Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska. He’s a Nashville recording artist with two great albums available.

The Kenastons are known from their appearances on RFD-TV. Their style of music fills the need of everyone who loves dancing.  Two-step, waltz, polka, line dance, trail dance, jitterbug, rockabilly and whatever you request is what you’ll get when you book the Kenastons and High Country. The vast material these five entertainers have will bring you old favorites, introduce you to something new and leave you wanting to follow them from place to place to see and hear what might happen next.

Plus, special guest appearances from Epi Martinez, Vanessa Kenaston, Johnny Butten, Justin Trevino and more will occur during the season. So, it’s never the same show twice. It’s a top shelf country dance band. There’s no use pretending to be anything else.

If you want dance music, this is the band for you.  This group also books shows, Gospel shows, and any venue across the valley and beyond. The Kenastons and High Country with Mike Hughes. Give them a call and let the good times roll!

PatsyCline Rainy

Rainy returns to the Rio Grande Valley with her special tribute to the Legendary Patsy Cline. With a voice that is distinctly "Patsy", she presents a convincing performance celebrating the songs and spirit of this country music legend.

During her high-energy show, she slips in a few memorable hits paying tribute to 60’s pop artists Connie Francis, Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray.  Mix this with a little trivia and some hilarious (not-so-true) stories and you're in for an entertaining and fun-filled evening.

Sadly, this will be her final season in the Rio Grande Valley.

Rainy and hubby Hank want to thank those folks who have supported their shows over the years and invite everyone to come out as they take you on their farewell musical journey down memory lane.
