Great entertainment planned for Valley Star Awards

Winter Texans have been mailing their Valley Star Award ballots and using the online ballot at www.wttrgv.com to vote for their favorite entertainers. The ballots have been coming in at a stead rate, and are being counted now as the cut-off date was Tuesday.

Saturday night a large crowd is expected to gather at Mission Bell Resort where the winners will be announced. But in addition to announcing the winners, there will be some great entertainment from new entertainers to the Valley and from some entertainers who have previously won the honors. It promises to be a great event.

Vote for 2016 Valley Star Awards

It is time again to select Winter Texans’ favorite entertainers for the 2016 Valley Star Awards. This year’s ballot is in this week’s edition of the Winter Texan Times on page 8. Choose to use the ballot in today’s paper and mail it to 1217 N. Conway, Mission TX 78572, or, vote online at www.wttrgv.com. Ballots must be received by Feb. 16 to be counted.

Nominees for Male Vocalist of the Year are John Sager, Mario, Bill Chrastil and J.C. Harrisson. Female Vocalist of the Year nominees are Susan Hudson Carman, Leslie Blasing, Ruthi and Maggie Mae.

Family Musical Group nominees are Lindley Creek, CrossStrung, Southern Anthem and Goldwing Express. Non-related Musical Group of the Year nominees include Razz Ma Tazz, Men of A-Chord, Sweet Adelines and Senior Ambassadors.

Valley Star Awards: Vote for ‘Entertainer of the Year’

The fifth annual Valley Star Awards will present awards to the Rio Grande Valley’s top entertainers as selected by Winter Texans casting their votes for their favorite Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Family Musical Group of the Year, Musical Group of the Year (not related), Duet Musical Group, Gospel Group, Novelty or Comedy Act of the Year, Rock & Roll Band, Country Western Band, Individual/Small Band/Variety Act, and Entertainer of the Year.

The Valley Star Awards ballot is located HERE. To cast your vote, fill out the paper ballot printed in the Feb. 4 edition of the Winter Texan Times, or submit your vote online at www.wttrgv.com. Ballots must be submitted by the Feb. 16 deadline to be counted in the poll.

Valley favorites to perform at Star Awards

For those who want to see some of the best entertainment in the Rio Grande Valley all in one show, the place to be is the Valley Star Awards to be held at Mission Bell Resort in Mission at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21. In addition to presentations of 12 awards for the Valley’s favorite entertainers, there will be performances by six of the most popular entertainers in the Rio Grande Valley.

John Sager, a Branson performer who has been named the RGV’s Male Vocalist of the Year four times, and three times named Entertainer of the Year, will be among the entertainers.

Valley Star Awards names performers of the year

20140215-Valley-Star-Award-Show-116 featureWinter Texans who attended the Valley Star Awards Show at Mission Bell Resort Saturday, Feb. 15, were thrilled by the star quality performances put on by the Rio Grande Valley’s top performers.

The show provided the perfect setting to announce the nominees and final picks for this year’s recipients of the 2014 Valley Star Awards, selected by Winter Texans who cast well over 2,000 ballots in this year’s voting.

Robert and Billie Ferguson produced the show, while the Winter Texan Times published the ballots and tabulated the votes for this year’s awards.

While excitement was in the air as the audience awaited the announcement of the winners of each of this year’s awards, there was plenty of top-notch, Branson quality entertainment provided by six different groups of performers putting on a show like none other in the Rio Grande Valley.

Tickets available for Valley Star Awards

20140206 gary-crain gomer-pyleGet ready for an evening of great entertainment from some of the Valley’s best performers on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. as Robert and Billie Ferguson and the Winter Texan Times present the third annual Valley Star Awards.

At the Valley Star Awards, the Rio Grande Valley’s top entertainers are named in 11 different categories, including categories such as Male and Female Vocalist of the Year, Family Musical Group of the Year, and Country Western Band of the Year, plus overall Entertainer of the Year. The awards recipients are chosen by ballots cast by Winter Texans, and the ballot is printed in today’s issue of the Winter Texan Times. The ballot is also available online, CLICK HERE.

Between presentations of this year’s awards recipients, six of the Valley’s top entertainers will perform, making for an exciting evening of anticipation and fun. Performing will be Amber Waves, Susan Hudson Carman, Dave & Daphne, Billy Droze, Jeff Gordon and Jim Greeninger, master guitarist.

Valley Star Awards Show planned

The Valley Star Awards Show will be held at Victoria Palms Resort on Saturday,  Feb. 25. The awards program hosted by Robert Ferguson will honor the “cream of the crop”of entertainers who make the winters more fun by performing in many Winter Texan resorts. Awards will be presented for individuals, groups and bands voted as best in their categories by park activity directors.

Nomination forms were distributed in November and December to activity directors. Twenty-nine parks returned the forms with their nominations. The nominations were tallied and the three highest entertainers in each category were put on a ballot slip and distributed to the parks participating. The ballots were returned to Victoria Palms Resort Feb. 1 and counted by a group of three people. From those results, favorite entertainers were chosen in 12 different categories.
