A core principle of the initiative is an ongoing commitment to helping all pets find their perfect, loving home. Throughout the entire month, Subaru is ramping up their initiatives to help shelter pets get adopted and giving back to animal shelters by donating $100 for every pet adopted from PVAS between October 1 and October 31. For the fourth year in a row, Subaru will also be celebrating National Make a Dog’s Day on October 22. This is a day when all dog lovers are encouraged to do something extra special for their dogs. In honor of this day, and to give back to all dog (and cat) lovers in the Rio Grande Valley, PVAS is hosting a big pet clinic where they will be offering free vaccines and microchips to community members. PVAS encourages pet parents to keep their pets up to date on vaccinations and utilize microchips in order to improve the health of the pets in the community and ensure they can find their way home should they become lost. PVAS is partnering with The City of Edinburg, Petco Love, PetSmart Charities, Banfield Foundation, Bert Ogden Subaru, and Heal House Call Veterinarian in this no-cost, vaccine and microchip event at Bert Ogden Arena (4900 S. I-69C, Edinburg) on Saturday, October 22, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. – or while supplies last. Through the hard work and coordination of all the organizations involved, the event will consist of 2,000 vaccines for both dogs and cats, including DAPPv (Canin distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, adenovirus), FVRCP (feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia), rabies, and microchip implantation. All of the vaccines and microchips will be free of charge. Anyone can come and receive services for their pets. No documentation needs to be provided. It will be a drive-thru clinic, and all forms regarding the services requested will be filled out upon arrival. It is recommended that community members arrive early to line up to ensure you receive services before supplies run out.
