The Christmas Posada is the Food Bank RGV’s newest community event and aims to raise funds to provide even more holiday meals for the community this season. “Hunger does not take a holiday and unfortunately, we are currently seeing more families reach out for help this season. We know that having children home during the holiday vacation will put a strain on already tight family finances—we just want to make sure children are fed and that no one has to go without a meal,” said Libby A. Saenz, Food Bank RGV CEO. The Food Bank RGV’s inaugural Christmas Posada will feature local restaurants that will showcase their traditional caldos and soups (pozole, menudo, fideo, caldito talpeno, frijoles charros, chili) while local coffee shops and bakeries display their best holiday pastries and warm seasonal drinks. Guests will enjoy live entertainment from local mariachi bands and folklorico dance teams while they shop a winter wonderland variety of boutiques and local artisan vendors. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on the various silent auction items, with proceeds supporting the holiday meals campaign. The Food Bank RGV would like to thank the RGV Activity Directors Association for supporting the Christmas Posada at the Silver Reindeer sponsorship level. This support will enable the food bank to provide 12,500 meals for the community this season. The Food Bank RGV’s Inaugural Christmas Posada will take place December 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Food Bank RGV located at 724 N. Cage Blvd in Pharr. The cost to attend is $25 per person and includes tastings from all participating restaurants, bakeries, and café shops.
