See dealer for details. GPZ implements new hours The Zoo will be implementing some changes to their admission prices and is rolling out a newly restructured membership program. Changes to admission rates are necessary to help the Zoo keep up with the rising cost of animal feed and other items essential to keeping the animals healthy and in well-maintained habitats. The new admission rates will be $15.50 for adults (ages 14 to 64), $9.50 for children (ages two to 13), and $12.50 for seniors (ages 65 and older). Children under the age of two will continue to receive free admission to the Zoo. “The Zoo continues to keep its pricing low while remaining an excellent value for our visitors. There is much more to see and do at the Gladys Porter Zoo than in previous years, and more exciting amenities are on the way,” said the Zoo’s director, Dr. Patrick Burchfield. Changes to the Zoo’s membership program will go into effect in January 2022. Current members will not be affected until it is time for them to renew. Members will still enjoy benefits such as free admission for a year, free or discounted admission at over 100 zoos nationwide, and free parking in the Zoo’s limited access parking lot. One benefit to these changes is that all memberships will now receive a ten percent discount on all purchases made at the Zoo’s gift shops, Congo Bazaar and Zoofari Market. This discount was previously limited to only select membership levels. The changes in admission and membership rates will help the Zoo maintain high standards of animal care and continue its important conservation work as it has done throughout its 50-year history. The film is based on the novel written by local author, Cleo Dawson. Who is Cleo Dawson? Cleo Dawson was born in 1902. Her family was one of the first pioneer families who help d transf rm the frontier town f Mission into n incorporated city. They w re the owners of one of the first convenience stores, Caballo Blanco. Her novel is inspired by the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Mission, during its pioneer days. It is said to be based on Dawson’s mother’s experiences. The film was shot in South Texas’s Rio Grande Valley and Oklahoma.
