The ships he was on were cargo ships including the Mulifun AKA 12, the Libra Akaio and the Destroyer Jenkins DD 477. His travels took him to Japan and Korea in the Atlantic and even Padre Island. The Sailors were allowed off the ship Jenkins for fun in Brownsville. He enjoyed the destroyer best because of the places they went, including Hawaii, Padre Island and Japan. His experience in the Navy was unforgettable. D a w s o n , now 95 years old was born in Rapelje, MT and at age three moved with his family to Laurel, MT on the Yellowstone River. He had three brothers and three sisters. As he grew older, there were times when the family needed money and he would trap skunks, skin them, and ride his bike 12 miles to Billings to sell the hides for 25 cents apiece. Zane married at the age of 21 and he and his wife had three boys and continued living in Laurel. When he was out of the military, at age 24 he stared working for the railroad. He also grew and took care of his large garden and sold flowers. He took up golfing for 45 years and has spent a lot of time fishing. He has been a resident of Four Seasons since 2007.
