Who knows how many more Winter Texans have talents we don’t even know about? Many of our Winter visitors quietly share those talents. A talent can also be a skill - maybe it is the ability to teach or quilt or work as a carpenter or electrician. It is of great benefit to the Rio Grande Valley to have so many Winter Texans who share their talents with us. Their expertise in quilting, teaching, carpentry and so many other talents is not wasted. Their organizational skills to get groups together to help us and our loved ones is amazing. How blessed we all are to have the Wintertainers visit the Rio Grande Valley as they provide us with some of the best entertainment available....dance to their music, listen to their vocalists and acquaint yourself with some of the top entertainers from Nashville, Memphis and Branson. The Rio Grande Valley also receives internationally known entertainers. A very talented group travels from San Luis Potosi, Mexico to perform at the Festival of Lights in the town of Hidalgo. This group has been invited to entertain worldwide. It is amazing that so many of our local citizens are not aware of how much talent is available for our entertainment. Recently, Port Isabel celebrated Market Days and many locals entered in various competitions, one event being the selection of the best vocalist. It was a surprise to learn that a lady I had known for several years made the cut to enter this competition.
