We know plenty of you, your parks, and organizations, use this time of year to fundraise, have toy or food drive, and other events to help an organization, school, church, or some other special cause. We love sharing those stories. I was recently able to connect a business with a park organization that does charity work. It was a pleasure to be able to connect these individuals and let the park organization know how thankful this business is for them and the help they give. Our community is truly thankful for all that you do for them while staying with us – no matter how small or big of an impact you think you make. Many of you get to see firsthand the impact you make when you see smiling faces of children during your special Christmas parties, or when you donate books, clothes, or food to a family in need. Some of you work in the background making quilts, taking donations, and drop them off at locations, never really knowing how thankful someone is for getting that little bit of extra help during the season. We hear from some of these individuals and organizations you donate to and help during the season. They are so very thankful for every little thing you do to help them achieve their goals, and their vision. These are the stories we like to hear, that we like to see, and that we like to print on these pages. We want to know what you are doing this holiday season. Participate in the Gingerbread House Challenge as you build and decorate a house using graham crackers, frosting and candy. Enjoy the beautiful community exhibition Christmas Tree Forest organized by the IMAS Guild, while visiting the Holiday Market. This year’s theme “Christmas Dreams” showcases the creativity and the ingenuity of the community from preschoolers through adult groups. The Christmas Tree Forest exhibition will be on display at IMAS from December 1, 2023, through January 7, 2024. IMAS Members can also get exclusive access to the museum after hours on Friday, December 8, for Winter Members’ Night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. when the museum opens just for IMAS members. The museum is located at the intersection of Bicentennial Way and Nolana Avenue at 1900 W. Nolana in McAllen, Texas. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Regular admission is $5 with discounted $3 for children ages 4-12, students with an ID, and senior citizens 65+. Museums for All (WIC/EBT) discount is $1 for up to four people per card.
