December 1 – Weslaco Museum debuts their Christmas Tree Forest: Christmas Around the World exhibit. The exhibit will also feature 100+ artifacts from over 50 countries around the world. Kansas, will have their Christmas Light Display with a holiday market at 6 p.m. December 1-3 – The Veterans Memorial high School Harlequin Drama Club presents “School of RockThe Musical.” The performances will be at 7 p.m. each day. December 2 – South Padre Island will hold their tree lighting ceremony at the SPI City Hall starting with a welcome by the mayor at 5:30 p.m. Their Annual Christmas Parade will follow at 6 p.m. The route will travel south on Padre Blvd. from Mars to Acapulco east of the medians only. December 2 – A Touch of Frost, by Valley Symphony Orchestra will be performed at the McAllen Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. It is the holiday tradition featuring the Valley Symphony Chorale and seasonal favorites including sections from Handel’s Messiah and The Nutcracker. Designated viewing areas throughout the route offers public viewing. The parade starts at 6 p.m. December 3 – Experience the fun of RGV Modern Band Ensembles and faculty band. These groups comprise students learning new instruments and making contemporary popular music of varied styles. The show will also feature The Minor Revisions, a pop/rock band made up of UTRGV music faculty members.
