Tour. There have been 200 tickets sold so far for this event, so it is bound to be a great show. This fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity started because of that great loved Winter Texan song “Who the Hell is Alice.” Leslie said she had never heard of the song until she started singing it for the Winter Texans in the RV Parks in the RGV many years back. She then thought it would be hilarious to do a fundraiser in Alice and have a caravan of cars from the Valley going up there to support a great cause. From there, “Partnering with Habitat for Humanity became an annual tradition,” she said. This year, they are building a house for Tori Gonzalez and her two children, Landon and Ellianna. This past weekend, the “Care-aVanners” had an opening dinner before starting on this year’s home. The Care-a-Vanners travel to Alice from everywhere to donate their time and skills to build the house. From the Valley, it takes about two and a half hours to get to Allice. Blasing is having people meet at 10 a.m. at the Texas Travel and Information Center for those that was to caravan together to Alice. From there they should arrive at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds in Alice around noon. Everyone is invited to familiarize themselves with the area during the day. Everyone is free to have lunch on their own. Then they will meet at the building site at 2 p.m. to have a personal, guided tour of the home being built. Afterwards, everyone can check into their hotels. There are many hotels to choose from and RV parking is also available at the fairgrounds. To reserve your RV space, or for more information, call Peggy Wilcox at (915) 433-7769. Spots include 30-amp electricity and water hook-ups. Attendees will want to be back up at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m. The event is BYOB and sodas will be available for purchase. Make sure to go hungry to the event to be prepared to eat the world-famous brisket sandwiches for $10 – and that includes a soda and chips. These sandwiches are made by Dale Wilson and proceeds go toward the fundraiser. There will also be a silent auction at the event. The auction will feature items that the community of Alice has donated to the cause. But more than anything… Leslie says, “Let’s show Alice, Texas, how we support them, and that we are all there to have a great time.” The dance will include all styles of music from several eras and will be from 7 to 9 p.m. “As a group of fun people from the RGV area we sing “Who the Hell is Alice” for our new friends in Alice,” said Leslie. They really get a chuckle out of our group singing. “It is just the perfect case of people coming together for a great cause. We call it ‘Party with a Purpose’.” If you don’t have your tickets yet, Leslie has them available for $10 per person. Just catch her at one of her shows this week. Her schedule can be found on her website http://www. lesliepresents.com/ or you can find her on Facebook. You can also purchase tickets by calling Melissa Trevino at Alice Echo News at (361) 396-7222 (cash only).
