South Texas College Theatre and Dance will hold auditions for its Black Box Studio production of The Odyssey by Gregory A. Falls and Kurt Beattie.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. with callbacks happening at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at the STC Cooper Center for Performing Arts.
All STC and Rio Grande Valley community members, aged 18 and over, are welcome to audition. This live theatre performance will run from February 19 through February 22, 2026.
The Odyssey is an action-filled adaptation of Homer’s classic, which uses masks, songs, mime and percussion to tell this epic adventure. Join Odysseus and his crew on their journey home as they encounter cyclops, sorceresses, sirens and the gods’ wrath. Meanwhile, Odysseus’ wife, Penelope and her son, Telemachus, defend their home from ill-intentioned suitors who overstayed their welcome in her home and demand she chooses a new husband.
Those interested in auditioning for The Odyssey are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume, but it is not required. Scenes will be made available at the time of audition. The director is looking for a cast of at least six men and two women – all various ages.
