Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) will host the 52nd Annual Puppy Love Gala on Saturday, February 21, at the McAllen Convention Center, celebrating an unforgettable night inspired by the enchantment of the Venetian Carnival. This year’s gala will honor Keely & Byron Jay Lewis for their support and commitment to the PVAS mission.

A dynamic and bold exploration of the piñata tradition is coming to McAllen this February. The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) presents Piñatabstract, a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Josué Rawmirez, running from February 14 through July 26. The exhibit offers a unique presentation of the piñata through craft, performance, and new media, transforming a beloved cultural icon into innovative works of art.

On Tuesday, January 27, 108 Kansans from all over the Rio Grande Valley met for lunch to commemorate the anniversary of the state’s January 29, 1861, admission to the Union. It was so great that 43 Kansans joined the group for the first time.

Quinta Mazatlán will host the first official unveiling of “Wild Women for Good: Stories of Conservation in Texas” during a special Thursday Night Live event on February 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will bring together some of the most influential women in Texas conservation for a live panel discussion, music, wine, and conversation among friends.
The Winter Outdoor Wildlife Expo returns to the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary on February 5 through 7, for its 30th year showcasing the natural treasures of South Texas and the Lower Laguna Madre. There is an admission fee.

Upper Valley Art League’s local member artists will showcase diverse works of watercolor at the Upper Valley Art League (UVAL) Gallery in Mission February 7 through 28. Opening reception for the event is Saturday, February 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 921 E. 12th Street in Mission (next to Speer Memorial Library).
