CarFest celebrates 15 years of automotive excellence

20210227 McAllen Car Show ALB 041 webThe highly anticipated McAllen International CarFest is back to celebrate its 15th Anniversary from Friday, January 31, through Sunday, February 2, at the McAllen Convention Center. With over 300 stunning vehicles, thrilling attractions, and activities for the entire family, CarFest remains the premier automotive event in South Texas.

“Fifteen years ago, we saw a need to unite car enthusiasts and provide one of the few car shows with judges from the National Hot Rod Association,” said Al Diaz, Assistant Director of the McAllen Convention Center.

Kite Fest brings the fun indoors Feb. 3 & 4

20250122 Indoor 1 webSouth Padre Island Indoor Kite Performances are back. That means it's time to head to South Padre Island and watch kite fliers from all across the country as they 'tie one on' for two fun-filled nights of amazing performances.

Mark your calendars for February 3 and 4. Each night will have its own unique theme. Monday night kicks off with 'A Tribute to the Screen' where the fliers will perform to music from their favorite big screen movies. Tuesday night will be filled with some 'Texas Skies and Island Vibes' featuring performances to a little country music, a little tropical/island music maybe mixed in with a tiny bit of that south Texas border feel.

Mission celebrates over 90 years of tradition with Texas Citrus Fiesta

20250122 Citrus Fiesta Parade 032 webThe City of Mission invites you to the 93rd Annual Texas Citrus Fiesta Parade of Oranges, one of the largest and most beloved parades in South Texas. The parade will take place on Saturday, January 25, at 12 p.m., along Conway Avenue, starting at 495 FM and continuing south, ending at 1st Street. This year’s theme is Boots and Blossoms, so don’t forget to wear your best boots and be part of the fun!

Duo brings passion for country music to VSA stage

20250122 Kiley and COmpany webAs we are gearing up for this year’s Valley Star Awards, we will be introducing you to our entertainers for the show. Kiley & Company have been performing a numbers of years, including jams like Maude’s Jams, and others.

Kiley & Company is a two-piece band featuring Kiley Barwick on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Blaine Garrelts on pedal steel, lead guitar and harmony vocals. Classic county music is their passion and even though this kind of music has become harder to come by over the year, their goal is to keep it alive as long as they can.

The Lady and The Outlaw bring their talents to the VSA

20250122 lady and the Outlaw webAnother duo gracing the Valley Star Awards stage this year is The Lady and The Outlaw. Regan James and Nan Taylor enjoy performing as The Lady and The Outlaw bringing country, rock and blues from the 1950s to today to the stage.

Regan has been performing in the Valley for about 12 years. Regan lives in MN in the summer months with his wife Charlene but has made the Valley his winter home since 2012.

Gospel Music Extravaganza is January 28

20250122 Gospel Music Extravaganza CAB 0071 webBob Courtney, AKA Pastor Pudge, will be hosting the Gospel Music Extravaganza next week where he and others will be performing great gospel music to lift our spirits. The event begins at 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, at Winter Ranch Resort, 600 State Hwy. 495, in Alamo.
Others that will be performing are Redneck Revival, Alta Courtney, Even You Ministries, and starring this year is legendary piano man Scott Roberts.
