October 24 – Quinta Mazatlan will celebrate the Rio Grande Valley’s native plants from 6 to 9 p.m. The event features a live panel discussion, native plant sale, giveaways, food, a marketplace and more. The evening includes a free shuttle service to take guests from off-site parking at 1400 Wichita near La Plaza Mall to Quinta Mazatlan. October 24 – The City of Edinburg will host a Halloween-themed fall festival at 6 p.m. at 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd. Highlights include costume contests, games and rides, food and treats, trunk or treat, and lots of fun. Edinburg Municipal Park will transform into a Halloween wonderland for the event.

October 26 – The Texas Butterfly Festival will host their free community day event at the National Butterfly Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center is located at 3333 Butterfly Drive in Mission. October 26 – The 54th Annual Dakee Si Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas Fall Powwow will be held at the Alton Recreation Center, 349 Dawes Ave., in Alton. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 9:30 p.m. There will be special dances, performances, cake walks, raffles, Indian food, arts crafts and more.

October 26 – Edinburg will host their annual Los Muertos Bailan from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Promenade Park Amphitheater. Activities will spread from the Museum of South Texas History to Edinburg City Hall. The event will feature a chalk art contest, music, a Catrina fashion contest, and more. October 27 – South Padre Island Birding Center will host their annual event Hallowings: A Celebration of Monarch Migration. Monarchs are unique due to their two-way migration. Visit the park and celebrate the fall migration as they travel to their winter home in Mexico. The center will feature Monarch-themed activities, butterfly garden tours, and more. Admission is free for the day. There will also be entertainment, face painting, sandcastle lessons, and more fun. The event is being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is located at 6801 Padre Blvd. The birding center will also be having a quilt raffle for a chance to win a handmade, queen-sized quilt. Proceeds support the center’s fundraising efforts.

October 29 – Alamo Chamber of Commerce will host BBQ in the Park from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be food, fun, and plenty of time to spend with friends. The event will be held at the Downtown Central Park, 800 E. Main St. For more information, call (956) 787-2117.

October 31 – IMAS After Dark will start off with Fright Night, an adults-only Halloween celebration, from 6 to 8 p.m. Don your best costume and immerse yourself in the museum’s unique blend of art and science as you explore the interactive exhibits, dance the night away, and gaze upon sculptures in a more hauntingly fun atmosphere.
