The Mission Historical Museum (MHM) Presents the 16th Annual Mission Quilt Show exhibit. Quilts will be exhibited in the Museum’s Post Office building (200 E Tom Landry). The quilts will be judged by a panel of independent judges, with ribbons awarded for first, second and third places in each category. Best-of-show and Viewers’ Choice ribbons will also be awarded. Viewer’s Choice ballots will only be accepted in-person and through February 9th. An Awards Reception and Turning of the Quilts program will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11. The Mission Historical Museum is located at 900 Doherty and 200 E. Tom Landry in downtown Mission. Admission is free.

Through the month of February

Bring your Valentine’s to the “All You Need is Love” Trail at Quinta Mazatlan during the month of February. Follow the hearts for this nature-themed quarter mile walk through the woods with over twenty heart-art installations. Programs following the theme will be offered throughout the month. Admission is $3 for adults. Quinta Mazatlán is open Tuesday to Satur-day 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursdays until dark. Please follow current COVID-19 Safety Guide-lines while in the park. The Museum of South Texas History presents the spotlight exhibit titled “Otis Bell’s Edin-burg,” in observance of Black History Month, from Feb. 1 to Feb. 27. The spotlight exhibit will feature the full oral history, photos of Otis Bell and a variety of photographs of historic Edin-burg locations. Visitors can view the exhibit in the Annex Hallway at MOSTHistory and it is included in the regular museum admission fee. The City of Granjeno will hold their 15th Annual Friendship Festival and Parade starting at 11 a.m. The festival grounds are at Granjeno Veteran’s Park, 6503 S. FM 494. There will be ven-dors, live music, a car and motorcycle expo, and a people’s choice award.

This year’s Valley Star Awards will be held on Wednesday, February 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Mission Bell Resort, 1711 E. Bus. 83. Tickets are $15 per person, $12.50 for groups of 15 or more. Lunch will be available from 12 to 1 p.m. for an additional fee. Entertainment includes 2020 VSA RGV Male Vocalist of the Year Curt James, Johnathan Len, Justin Terry, Ron and Jan Easter, Mountain Highway and Rebecca Lawless. Alfresco Weslaco will be held 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. in historic downtown Weslaco. Free admission. The Valley Red Hatters will be holding their Festival of Tables on Wednesday, February 23. The event, originally slated to be held at Trophy Gardens, is to now be held at Alamo Country Club. Tickets are $18 per person. Non-members must purchase their tickets before February 14th. Red Hat attire is required. Doors open at 10 a.m. with viewing of up to 40 decorated table settings. Lunch will be served at noon and hosted by Balli’s Catering. Entertainment at 1 p.m. will be presented by Jason Whorlow and his daughters. Raffle winners and other announce-ments will be held at 2 p.m. Checks for tickets should be made out to Jan Bergman and mailed to her, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope. The Leisure World Quilters sixth biannual quilt show will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Hall, 400 East 18th St. in Weslaco. The quilter's raffle quilt is king size measuring 106"x106" in green, rust, and gold colors. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available from any of the Leisure World quilters or at the show. The drawing will be held at the end of the show, and you don't need to be present to win. SPI Market Days will be held at the South Padre Island Convention Center. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The market will feature fine art, handcrafted jewelry, clothing, arts and crafts, gourmet food mixes, product demos, pet items, live music and more. There will also be door prizes. Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce hosts La Cebollita Mid-Valley Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market will feature local homegrown products including produce, unique artesian items, specialty goods, and more.
