February 4-25 – The Hidalgo Watercolor Society will have their Annual Watercolor Exhibit with an opening reception on Saturday, February 4th from 7 to 9 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be displayed at the Upper Valley Art League (UVAL) at 921 E. 12th St., in Mission, and will run through February 25th. The exhibit features art made by Winter Texans and local artists. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

February 23 – Join Quinta Mazatlan for Foraging for Native Edibles Tour at 5 p.m. The program fee is $5 per person with advance registration requested via www.quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com.

February 23, 25, 26 – South Texas College Theatre and Dance present Animal Farm at 7:30 p.m. on February 23 and 25, and 2 p.m. on February 26. Performances will take place at STC’s Cooper Center for the Performing Arts Black Box at 3200 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.

February 24-26 – SPI Market Days will be held at the South Padre Island Convention Center, 7355 Padre Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The market will feature fine art, handcrafted jewelry, clothing, arts and crafts, gourmet food mixes, product demos, pet items, live music and more. There will also be door prizes. Parking is free. February 25 – Join the McAllen Public Library for their Third World Language Festival. Celebrate international cultures and languages by experiencing international food tasting, crafts and activities by community organizations and performances. All ages welcome. Registration not required. Event is free. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. The library is located at 4001 N. 23rd St.

February 28 – Join Speer Memorial Library for a book discussion of The Rosie Project, in the Community Room at 5:30 p.m. in Spanish and 6:30 p.m. in English. Everyone is welcome to attend and discuss the book. The library is located at 12th and Kika De La Garza in Mission. Call (956) 580-8754 for more information, sign up for a book, or the discussion.

February 28 – Native Plant Project’s guest speaker for the meeting in Weslaco will be Robert Gaitan, president of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists. The program will be held at the Valley Nature Center, 301 S. Border St. at 7:30 p.m. More information can be found at www.nativeplantproject.org.

February 27, 28, March 2 – MOSTH will host FESTIBA presentations online. February 27th will be a one-hour presentation featuring letters written by Sgt. Gonzalez, a Vietnam War hero, at 10 a.m. Melissa Pena will share details on building spotlight exhibits at the museum through her presentation on February 28 at 11 a.m. March 2 will be a presentation about Will Looney Legacy Park. March 4 – The Fiesta Edinburg Parade is returning for its Fiesta Edinburg annual event at 10 a.m. To participate, contact the committee at (956) 383-4974 or visit the website at www.edinburg.com for more information.

March 5 – The Gladys Porter Zoo is back with their annual 5k and one-mile fun run to support ocelot conservation. Visit www.gpz.org for register and for pricing information.

March 24 – RGV favorite Mariachi Aztlan joins the Valley Symphony Orchestra for an evening of Latin-inspired works including selections from the opera Carmen for the Carmen Y Mas performance at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Centers. April 2 – The McAllen Wind Ensemble will perform “Memories” at the McAllen Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the ticketmaster website or at the center. A season pass to all four of their concerts is $40. Ticket prices usually range from $7 to $17.

April 21 – Star-crossed lovers and an all-star piano soloist converge on this season finale program West Side Story by the Valley Symphony Orchestra. It will be held at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. For tickets and more information, visit https://valleyorchestra.org/concerts/.
