frontera audubon calling valley birdersThe Frontera Birdathon 2021 will look a little different this year. The park is looking for those who want to support Frontera Audubon in Weslaco by doing what you love – getting out and watching birds.

Individuals, pairs or groups of people from the same household, or up to four-person team traveling in different vehicles, can form a Birdathon entry and submit a bird list of species. The birds need to be seen from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset on any day between now (actually started January 31) and February 6th.

The park asks that your team pay a minimum of $25 as an entry fee. You will receive a form to solicit sponsorships and the minimum can be paid by a sponsor or yourself. Fronter Audubon, of course, would like you to raise as much as possible. If you have friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, etc. that will pledge a set amount or an amount per species seen, that would be great. Teams have brought in over $1,000 in the past, but the park is grateful for the $25 individual/teams.

There is one bonus this year. If your team sees up to 75 species, each team member will receive a Frontera pin or patch.

If you log in 76-100 species, you will each receive an Al-Ka-Line tac or earrings of your choice. All those 101 species or over will receive a special edition Birdathon 2021 coffee mug.
