20220309 Celebrate Plant Mike Heep 003March 12th is National Plant a Flower Day and now is the best time to start planting, growing and enjoying flowers at your home. Join us at our Mazatlan Morning on Saturday, March 12th from 9 a.m. to noon for the Native Plant Sale, Talk, Walk and Seed Bombing.

John Brush, McAllen Urban Ecologist, will present a program at 10 a.m. titled “Quinta in Bloom” highlighting the beautiful native flowers around the sanctuary.

Mike Heep, Valley’s native plant nursery owner, will sell plants from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday with a presentation at 11 a.m. It is a great opportunity to ask questions about what to grow in your garden.

Kids and adults alike can make Seed Bombs to take-home and toss anywhere you’d like to cover with flowers. Seed Bombs are balls made out of clay, compost and seeds. Apparently, Seed Bombs were first used in the 70’s to “bomb” large vacant lots in New York City with flowers---they called it guerilla gardening.

The event is free with Park Admission, $3 adults, $2 kids, two and under are free. Please reserve your tickets online at quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com in order for the park to prepare accordingly.
