The Rio Grande Valley Woodcarvers have begun 2022-2023 seasonal meetings. The woodcarvers are meeting at the Nomad Shrine Club, 1044 W. Nolana Blvd., in Pharr.

The Carvers meet weekly on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. from October to March. Gather with old friends, and new, to carve, visit and share ideas. The purpose of the meetings is to provide information about supplies, wood tools, books, etc.; provide help in carving and finishing, tool sharpening, blank preparation; to hold clinics; opportunities to fellowship and exhibit your work; and most of all, to have fun.

Everyone is welcome to come to visit and join the club. People are welcome to come in and look over shoulders and ask questions. Much of the winter there are professional carving instructors and other highly skilled carvers available to answer questions and give advice.

After a person has visited three times, they do ask that you become a member of the RGV Woodcarvers. There are annual dues. More information can be found on their website.
The association maintains a small library of carving books, patterns, and video tapes for members. Informal, inexpensive classes are offered from time to time at the weekly meetings. Carving supplies, tool sharpening, and new ideas are available weekly.

The RGV Woodcarvers Show is already being planned for January 20 and 21, 2023. There will be carvings of just about every carving category on display. Many displayers will have carvings and supplies available for sale. Show rules, categories, entry form and table registration are all available on the website at www.rgvwoodcarvers.org/rgv-woodcarving-show.
The Rally on the Rio is also planned for 2023. There will be some of the best instructors from all over the United States coming to share their knowledge and skills. The rally will be held January 23 through 28, 2023.

Both events are being held at the Nomad Shrine Club in Pharr.
