PSJA ECHS Wizard of Oz web

The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) Fine Arts Department has announced the upcoming performances of its award-winning theatre groups who will showcase their skills this fall during their annual children’s shows.

Three of PSJA ISD's high schools are gearing up to showcase children's musicals this fall, following PSJA Memorial High School's earlier production of Charlotte’s Web last month. PSJA Early College High School, PSJA North Early College High School, and PSJA Southwest Early College High School will each present their production, highlighting the district’s dedication to providing fine arts opportunities for all students.

PSJA Early College High School will present The Wizard of Oz, which follows Dorothy as she embarks on an adventure to the Land of Oz, meeting new friends and discovering the power of home and friendship.

Performance dates are December 7, 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and December 8 and 15 at 2:30 p.m. They will be held at PSJA ECHS Auditorium, 805 W. Ridge Rd., in San Juan.

PSJA North Early College High School will be present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Musical, a play based on Roald Dahl’s children’s book. The show follows young Charlie Bucket on his journey through Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, bringing life to characters through music.

Performance dates are December 6, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and December 8, 15, and 22 at 2 p.m. They will be performed at the Gilbert Zepeda Performing Arts Center, 500 E. Nolana Loop, in Pharr.

PSJA Southwest Early College High School presented their musical, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, last week.

“The PSJA children's show tradition began in 1979 and continues to this day with our very talented theatre students entertaining children as well as adults of all ages,” said PSJA Fine Arts Director Jon Taylor. “Please come and experience the magic of children's theatre - nobody does it like PSJA!”

The public is encouraged to attend these shows that highlight the incredible talent of PSJA ISD students. For more information about the upcoming performances, please contact the PSJA ISD Fine Arts Department at (956) 354-2000.
