20180308 Estero Llano Grande HMoering 0359 webEstero Llano Grande State Park stays busy with tours, night walks and more. The park, located in Weslaco, features weekly birding tours and butterfly and dragon tours. There are also special events each month sure to fit everyone.

All ages and skill levels are welcome on the two-hour birding tours of the park that are held every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Participants participate in finding as many species of birds as possible, especially the 30 that are termed Valley specialties.

The butterfly and dragon tours take place every Friday, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Join the park for a ranger-led tour through the park searching for these beautiful insects, some found nowhere else but in south Texas.

On March 22 and March 29 (both Saturdays), the park will host a Discovery Night from 8 to 10 p.m. It is a kid-friendly event, but sure to interest all ages. Visitors will go on a ranger-led tour which might include stargazing, owls, scorpions, tarantulas, alligators, frogs, bats and more.

A Healthy Outdoor Fiesta will be held on Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the park for a great outdoor experience. They will have healthy outdoor challenges and fun activities for everyone.
