The weather has been wonderful, says Thomas Riddle, park interpreter/volunteer coordinator at Bentsen-RGV State Park. “Our amazing ‘usual’ birds are out in full force.”
As we enter March, the park will be reducing bird walks just a little bit, but March also means the start of spring Hawk Watch. Riddle invites you to join their volunteers on the hawk tour and watch sometimes seemingly endless streams of raptors migrate across the sky.
The park also continues to feature their usual assortment of fun, educational, and innovative programs. There is always something for everyone.
Hawk Watches take place at the park daily, weather permitting, at 9 a.m. Bird walks are held every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. A What’s in the Water program will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m.
All of the following activities require reservations. Sign-ups are already taking place.
The Birding Tram Tour will be held on Thursday, March 12, 19, and 26 at 9 a.m. The park’s Speaker Series will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 6 p.m.
On Friday, March 13 and 27, there will be an Owl Prowl at 7:30 p.m. Archery Basics will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m. On Thursday, March 19, at 2 p.m. there will be a Home Tweet Home program.
