South Texas Border Chapter Texas Master Naturalist members are back with special presentations during the Annual Rio Grande Valley Home and Garden Show being held March 20 to 22 at the McAllen Convention Center.
The talks include the value of adding native plants to home gardens, plants that tolerate the shady side of your yard, good native vines for residential gardens, easy lighting techniques that benefit both humans and wildlife and reasons why it is important to embrace wildlife. Speakers include Eric Luebanos, Laura Brush, Anita Westervelt, Rachael H. Brown, Jennifer Rektorik, and Gabriel Montalvo. Seminars will be held all three days.
The event is at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Boulevard. Admission is free; the event is open to the public. Event hours are Friday 2 to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to the nature presentations, South Texas Border Chapter Texas Master Naturalist members will set up their annual plant sales at booths 122-124 during the event and be available to answer visitors’ questions about native plants.
