This cooler weather has been quite welcoming. It has made it feel like winter finally. It hasn’t been too cold, or too nasty wet outside with it either. I think it has been exactly what I have needed to feel like it is the correct season. After it just being a little too warm for Christmas, I was ready for that cooler weather to bring some of the holiday spirit with it.

My thing is, I don’t want it to get much cooler than it is. The 50- and 60-degree temperatures are just right for me. Any lower and I just want to stay inside for the most part.

I understand why you choose to get away from the colder temperatures of the northern states. I spent one year in Colorado, it was a very mild winter the year we were there, and I know I wouldn’t be able to do that every year.

And to think, if my dad had his way – way too many years ago – I would have grown up in Alaska. Thank you for staying in Texas dad.

While the weather has been cooler, and often a little wet, it has still been reasonable to get outside and enjoy the sites of the Valley. I invite you to check out our visitors guide online to see the many sites that are in the Valley.

The Valley is a huge birding and nature area, and most people know that – but there is so much more.

We have old battlefields, missions, museums, and a lighthouse just to name a few sites to see. There are also great eateries throughout the Valley – some of which are advertised in our paper – shopping, and we have a livestock show coming up soon. There is also horseback riding, a zoo, a turtle conservation place on the island, and even a llama farm.

There are so many great things to do in the Valley.

If you have anything you enjoy doing that you think we should know about, please let us know. And send us some pictures. Send items to news@wintertexantimes.com.

We love hearing from you!
