New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Valley

Just about every park has something special for New Year’s Eve. Many have special entertainment lined up with a dinner. So many of these parks sell out of tickets weeks before New Year’s Eve. So if you didn’t get a ticket in time and are still looking for things to do, there are a few cities having some celebrations you can join in on.
As always, South Padre Island puts on good fireworks show. New Year’s Eve is just a little different, with a bigger show to celebrate the ringing of a new year. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. There are celebrations throughout the island at several locations too.
Quinta Mazatlán is excited to welcome Odyssey Jazz Quartet and RGV Jazz Collective for a live jazz performance followed by a Jam Session, Thursday, December 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the North Lawn at Quinta Mazatlán. Join us for live music, food, a native plant sale and nature activities for a family friendly atmosphere. If you’re a musician, bring your instrument to join the band during the Open Jam Session.
The McAllen Wind Ensemble is excited to announce its 50th anniversary season. The annual music celebration of the holidays is Friday, December 15, 7:30 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Christmas with a Twist presents familiar holiday songs packaged in new ways to create a fresh experience for audience members. The music both travels around the world, weaves in some of our favorite seasonal movies, and constantly crosses compositional styles. The band will also feature the talented Colibri Children’s Choir for a special arrangement of Christmas movies.
The Senior Ambassadors will welcome the Texas A&M Singing Cadets to the Rio Grande Valley on Friday, January 12, 2024, for a performance at the Center Church (formerly Trinity Worship Center), located at 4801 N. Cage Blvd., in Pharr.
“Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Rio Grande River lost all of its water, in the RGV?”, asked Pharr Community Theater’s longtime director/producer, Pedro Garcia.
The cottages of Holiday Village Brownsville have moved back to Dean Porter Park and have been prepared for the 14th annual yuletide event. With five new and updated displays, this year there will be a total of 34 fully decorated cottages lining the sidewalks.
The Holidays are here, and the City of Weslaco and Weslaco Chamber of Commerce invite you to celebrate with them. The 2023 Weslaco Lighted Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 9th at 6 p.m., the event will be kicked off with the annual Santa Dash 5k Fun Run at 5 p.m.
