Wonderettes 02 webThe Harlingen Community Theatre, located at 1209 Fair Park Boulevard, presents the charming and fast-paced Off-Broadway smash hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes, which opens Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m., running two weekends November 19-21 and December 3-5.

The Marvelous Wonderettes, written and created by Roger Bean with musical arrangements by Brian William Baker and orchestrations by Michael Borth, features over thirty classic ‘50s and ‘60s musical hits, that will keep audience members joyfully entertained during this must-take musical trip down memory lane.

In Act One, the audience is transported back in time to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where they meet The Wonderettes -- Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy: four best friends with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to musical performances of classic hits such as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” and many more. You have never had this much fun at the prom.Wonderettes 01 web

In Act II, The Wonderettes reunite a decade later to take the stage once again to perform at their ten-year high school reunion. During their performance, we learn about the highs and lows each girl has experienced in the past decade and the different roads each have traveled since graduation. We are charmed and delighted as the girls sing musical sensations such as “Heatwave,” “You Don’t Own Me,” “It’s My Party,” “Rescue Me,” “Respect,” and more, as they discover that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together.

The Marvelous Wonderettes production at HCT features the incredibly talented shining stars: Beth Cantu, Vicky Fultz, Amy Gonzalez, and Cassandra Ramos, and is under the experienced music direction of Mike Ensign.
