20230905 iTheatre Weslaco webITheatre at the Tower opens for Auditions this week, Tuesday, September 5th and Thursday, September 7th from 6:30PM-8PM, located at 120 S. Kansas, Weslaco, TX 78596. This season’s production is “The Invasion of Earth as it began in Grover’s Mill, New Jersey” by J.R. Mimbs.

“The play is based around the infamous 1938 radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds. This event caused widespread panic because many people believed that it was real news. The play is focused on how people react to this event. Some, panic some turn on each other and others hold on to their humanity. Almost 100 years later and it is still a good reflection of ourselves” shared Steve Urbina, Director of ITheatre.

ITheatre at the Tower Brings the performing arts to South Texas! Their mission is to make theatre accessible to everyone. A community theatre that believes that a community can support local arts and artists, and by doing so, it will become culturally enriched. This group strives to produce professional-quality theatrical productions that inspire and entertain our community. Did you know? The Tower Theater is the only repurposed concrete water tank theater in the world.

“ITheatre is a community dedicated to the performing arts. We believe in a world of 3D, High-Definition screens, and AI nothing compares to the uniqueness as a live performance. If you are afraid of public speaking or just want to stretch beyond your comfort zone, this is the group to belong to. We build people up to work as a team and hopefully a better person. Be a part of this fun, caring, bold community trying to make the RGV a better place,” said Steve.
