The City of Edinburg’s Cultural Arts Department is excited to present "Los Muertos Bailan," a lively and free Día de los Muertos celebration, taking place on October 26 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. This vibrant event, which spans from Edinburg City Hall to the Museum of South Texas History, offers a night of color, culture, and community as Edinburg honors the lives of loved ones through art, music, and dance.
The celebration kicks off with energetic performances, artisan vendors, and family fun zones for everyone to enjoy. At 7 p.m., a stunning procession featuring charros and dancing horses will lead the way, followed by the vibrant Aztec Dancers. Behind them, city council members and the official Catrinas will join, followed by dance performers from all the stages, intertwined with the public, as the procession winds through the McIntyre Promenade to the Community Altar at Edinburg City Hall. This year’s altar is a special tribute to beloved Edinburg North High School Band Director Chad Dempsey, where attendees are invited to leave remembrances. Two “Remember Me” walls will also be available for the community to write the names of their loved ones as part of the tribute.
Throughout the evening, guests will be treated to unforgettable performances on the main stage. The lineup includes the high-energy sounds of El Wero Hernandez, Metalachi's unique fusion of mariachi and metal, and La Sonora Dinamita's irresistible cumbia rhythms. Spectacular fire dancers and aerial performers will also captivate the crowd, making this a magical night for the whole family.
There will also be interactive activities such as mask-making, sugar skull decorating, and traditional face painting. To add to the excitement, a car show featuring classic and custom vehicles will be on display.
